The legendary Bob Marley was gifted a birthday present like no other for his 75th !
Bob Marley’s team including his wife and daughter Cedella have released a new official visual for his historical single ‘Redemption Song’ on his official VEVO channel.
"When I watch it, it still gives me goosebumps," Cedella Marley tells Billboard of brand-new project ahead of what would have been her dad's 75th birthday.
“I think it came out amazing,” says Cedella of the video to the song which was originally released on Marley’s twelfth album Uprising and written after he was diagnosed with the cancer that he would later die from at 36. “We went through this six-month process with Octave and Theo going through it page by page, us looking at stuff and approving it all. When I watch it, it still gives me goosebumps.”
The Redemption Song video was created by French artists Octave Marsal & Theo De Gueltzl. Marsal & De Gueltzl’s breathtaking animation, featuring 2747 original drawings, uses powerful symbols to amplify the magnitude of the song’s timeless lyrics and importance in today’s world. The video highlights Bob’s contribution to the empowerment of black civilization, as well as his manifestation of hope and recovery for all mankind. Inspired by Bob’s homeland of Jamaica, as well as insights received from his family, the artistic approach was to illustrate the imaginary world of Bob Marley in a way that highly stimulates self-reflection.
