On Friday November 5th, 2021 Reggae star Gyptian received the Jamaica Consul General’s Heritage Award at the Jamaica Consulate in Manhattan, New York. 

Hosted by Consul General Alsion Roach Wilson, the event honored men and women for their “selfless efforts deserving of commendation.”  For the past 8 years, Gyptian has hosted a birthday celebration in Tavern, St. Andrew, donating all proceeds from the event to his alma mater.

He funded Oberlin High School’s computer lab and continues to work with the school. 

He works with the Life Love and Butterfly Foundation who received a substantial donation so that a teenage girl could have lifesaving heart surgery. 

Most recently, Gyptian started the ‘Windel Edwards Foundation’ whose mandate is to work with children with special needs. 

He also hosts back-to-school drives in Tavern, St. Andrew where he grew up. 

Gyptian continues to balance his philanthropic focus with his musical success.
