The promoters of Reggae Sumfest are promising fans a great experience despite some big changes to this year’s staging of the 23-year-old festival.
Many fans recently expressed skepticism after it was announced that there would be no international acts for this year’s staging of the festival.
Executive Director of Summerfest Productions, Johnny Gourzong has however spoken on the concerns at the event’s launch on Wednesday, guaranteeing patrons that there will be no shortage on quality entertainment.
According to Gourzong, the event remains the “Greatest Reggae festival in the world” and patrons should not lose sight of this.
Gourzong revealed that changes to the overall structure to the festival this year was necessary, as the festival could no longer afford majority of international acts due to devaluing of the Jamaican dollar and a spike in artiste fees.
Sumfest is set for kick off on July 17 to 23 under the theme ‘Our Music, Our Festival’.
