The Queen of Dancehall Spice continues to reign after being the first Jamaican to be honored by the New York City Council’s Black, Latino and Asian Caucus and the Power and Music Committee on Wednesday, June 15, 2022.

Awarded ‘International Music Ambassador’ for her outstanding achievements in music, she was among notable honourees such as Al Sharpton, Legendary Singer Patti LaBelle, Hip Hop Pioneer Doug E Fresh, Fat Joe, Busta Rhymes, Ja Rule, Roxanne Shante, Waah Dean, founder of  “Ruff Riders Entertainment,” world-renowned video directors Benny Boom, Ralph McDaniels, and former MCA Records executive, Don Pooh.

Spice, whose given name is Grace Hamilton, took to Instagram on Wednesday to share the accolade with her four million followers.

“Let it be known that today, June 15th, The New York City council’s Black Latino and Asian Caucus honored me with the International Music Ambassador Award for my outstanding achievements in Music. Thank you Power music Awards I’m humbled.  From homeless to Greatness.”
