Why Selena?

Selena best fits the stereotype of ‘every rappers dream,’ this particular type of female has it all!

The physique, the attitude, the style, in entirety; she possesses that ‘bragging-right’ feeling a man would develop if she’s at his side.

Did we mention she’s willing to do all it takes to maintain this presence whichever atmosphere she enters !

Selena’s Trackword

Throughout the track, Slim speaks about his current obsession “Selena,” he then goes in detail when describing what she’s about, the type of men she’s into. The lifestyle she yearns for and that he only just needs an opportunity.

The artiste experiences inner conflict, as he’s aware that physically he has what it takes to be impressive in her eyes, however Slim hasn’t manifested his full potential and this causes deep inner conflict and has him second guessing himself.

On the chorus;

“My selena, maybe i’m a dreamer, maybe i need to come to terms that you’ll never ever be mine 2x”

sings Slim I.D.

The overall vibe of the track draws inspiration from various sources, two noticeable influences are firstly, the Santana ‘Maria Maria’ type instrumental and then concept ideas from Kanye West’s “Gold Digger” single featuring Jamie Foxx.

The track is an overall smooth single and commendations must be delivered for how Slim maintains an american sound for his fusion tracks despite being Jamaican based.

“I’ve honestly never truly worked a record before, I believe Selena is that track that will be a catalyst to that change and have my craft taken more seriously and set a precedence for Slim I.D. records to come.
