August is set to be a big month for the newly crowned ‘Queen of the Dancehall’, Spice. The female deejay, who celebrated her birthday on August 6, will also be launching her latest album, Emancipated on August 26.
This new album follows on the heels of her 2021 project 10, which was her debut studio album and released by VP Records on her birthday. The album would go on to earn Spice a Grammy nomination in the Best Reggae Album category.
Emancipated’s lead single Clap Clap was released last Friday and, according to the deejay, this single represents a part of the diversity that is this project.
“The album is being distributed by United Masters. The video is also officially out for Clap Clap which is the first song. On August 19 you will be getting the full album, it’s so many different songs, so diverse. I have a song on it called Same Mouth, which is talking about the same mouth that will cheer you on but when your reach to a success, they will also come and say, ‘Lawd, mi never know she was gonna get so big’ and the same mouth will tear you down. Mi nuh want fi let the puss outta the bag too much, but I can say there is a lot of different types of music that I know my fans will enjoy,” she told the popular Jamaican media outlet.
The 9-trackep features productions by sole Grace ‘Spice’ Hamilton. “Emancipated” is a showcase for Spice’s hard-core vocal and creative ranges and that oh so raunchy side of the QOD.
